From: Why Is the Sky Blue?

Want to see how light scattering works at home?

You can recreate the blue sky in a simple glass of water using just a little bit of milk. The milk particles will act just like the gas particles in the Earth's air.

Action

Fill a clear glass with water, shine a flashlight through it, and add a few drops of milk. Look from the side, and you will see a faint blue glow. Look from the end, and the light turns orange-red.
